Ocala residents are grappling with heartbreaking news following a tragic crash on State Road 200 that claimed the life of Larry “The Giant” Whitler and left his longtime radio co-host, Robin MacBlane, seriously injured. The pair, both 70 years old, had spent nearly two decades bringing light-hearted commentary and meaningful conversations to morning listeners through their show “Robin and The Giant” on 1370 WOCA-AM.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the two were heading east on State Road 200 just after 7:30 p.m. on Thursday evening. As they attempted a left turn onto Southwest 103rd Street Road, their car was struck on the passenger side by a pickup truck that reportedly ran a red light while approaching from the opposite direction. 

Whitler was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later passed away. MacBlane is still recovering from serious injuries. The truck’s driver only sustained minor injuries.
